Strong return of Romanian industry in June
Industrial production continued to recover in June with an increase of 16.2% compared to May, an evolution that almost halved the decline in annual terms brought about by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The industry, which represents about a quarter of Romania’s economy, has been on a downward trend since last year and since the spring of this year has been severely affected by the COVID 19 pandemic by declining export demand. The evolution in June led to a smaller decline, in annual terms to 14.3%, compared to 27.6% in May.
