The level of the NPL rate has dropped below 5% and remains in the intermediate risk band, but it is still higher than the average value registered at European level, and the profitability of the Romanian banking system is almost double compared to the EU average, according to the NBR. The Romanian banking system has prudent indicators of solvency, profitability and balance sheet structure better than the European average.
